I am an artist, I have a background in fine art. I value aesthetic and the principles of design and art. I am drawer, painter, photographer, and a graphic designer as well as having a minor in Art History. I’ve spent the last 6 years devoted to studying practices in art as well as art history. I use this knowledge in all the work that I do. I don’t just put things on a page arbitrarily and say that looks alright. I know my type of aesthetic isn’t quite the norm in the club scene, but I think there needs to be less tacky ads and more of a high class version of graphic design brought to the table. I think a lot of what I see for these flyers and ads give graphic designers a bad name and give more heat to the debate on whether it can be considered art.
This is why I refuse to do any more tacky design. I don’t care what is asked of me, I’m done. I’m doing what I want.
